October Announcements!

Hey guys,

There’s a LOTTT going on this month.  Check out the highlights below!

For Second Year Students:

Financial Aid Appeals:
opened up on Sept. 16 and are due Oct. 30th! If you were a student in spring and DID NOT receive financial aid for this fall due to 1) falling below 2.0 GPA or 2) not meeting the 67% completion rate, please come in by Oct. 30th to file an appeal!

Graduation Applications: are also due at the end of this month.  This means you will be completing your degree THIS fall and will graduate this December.  Schedule an appointment to come fill these out with Casey!

UTSA Spring 2020 Transfers. If you’re looking to start UTSA this upcoming spring, Assistant Dean, Lydia Bueno, from UTSA’s Honors College will be here Thursday, 10/10, to help you apply!  She will be in the honors center from 11AM-1PM.  Come get your questions answered! If you’ve already applied, Casey is collecting UTSA IDs from students wanting to join the Honors College.  Submit them via email to ctamez8@alamo.edu by Oct. 17th to  register for UTSA’s honors classes in spring.

For First Year Students:

ISPs (Individualized Success Plans).
FTIC’s (First Time in College) Students are required to complete an ISP (a 2-3 year degree plan that includes transfer courses).  These can be completed by scheduling an appointment with Casey and are due by October 30th as well.  During the ISP meeting, students will receive a registration form that will need to be turned in on Nov. 7th @ 4PM to the box outside 122B (Casey’s office).  Students who turn in forms by the due date will be registered on November 11th.

Mission Statement: is a SAC-wide requirement for FTIC’s.  They enable students to describe their short-term academic goals but also include potential roadblocks to success and proactive strategies to diminish roadblocks.  You can “turn them in” by logging onto Aces, clicking Student, Web Services, Student, My Mission Statement.  Write up your statement and click “submit”.  Please text us via Remind so we can “check you off”!

For All Students:

FAFSA: Please be aware that you can now submit your FAFSA for the upcoming 2020-2021 year at FAFSA.gov using your 2018 tax return.  If you’re planning to be at SAC in the fall of 2020 but transfer in the spring of 2021, you will need to list both SAC and your four year institution as receiving institutions.  Need help filing your FAFSA? Feel free to contact Cafe College for assistance!
